This training will cover the supervision of professional counselor associates and marriage and family therapy associates through the OBLPCT and clinical social work associates through the OBLSW. An LCSW supervisor provides expertise for OBLSW portion of the training as a content expert since LPC’s & LMFT’s cannot supervise CSWA’s for licensure hours in Oregon.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to meet the 30-hour educational requirement to become a supervisor through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists (OBLPCT) and the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers (OBLSW). This course would be appropriate for any licensed mental health professional who is qualified and desires to supervise Associates through these two boards in Oregon. You are responsible for understanding the qualifications for supervising Associates in Oregon prior to registration.Please see the state requirements for the OBLPCT here:https://www.oregon.gov/oblpct/Pages/Supervisor.aspx and for Associates with the OBLSW here: https://www.oregon.gov/blsw/Pages/Supervision.aspx.
Out of state participants are welcome to register for this training if it qualifies in your state, but please note, our legal content will only cover the state of Oregon. Oregon uses the ACA Code of Ethics for professional counseling and marriage and family therapy associates.
Participants will learn several models of clinical supervision to develop competency and mastery in the supervision of Associates in all settings. Applicable ethics, laws, and rules will be emphasized along with relevant process skills and relational issues that arise in supervision. This training will include didactic and experiential modalities. The instructors will share supervision expertise through a social justice lens and with an awareness of power in the supervision relationship. Please expect to engage in conversations about race/identity/culture/social justice/critique of systems, as well as participate in small group learning as needed.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learn all laws, rules, and requirements for the supervision of Associates in Oregon
Build competence in all tasks and roles that a clinical supervisor performs
Learn more about your own desired model(s) of providing supervision and how to apply them to the supervision dynamic
Increase competence in meeting your ethical and legal responsibilities as a supervisor
Enhance your ability to engage in competent practice in addressing race, culture, and other aspects of identity with supervisees and their clients. This portion of the training is co-created and collaboratively taught by a cross cultural facilitation team of Dr. K Hixson andDr. Unique Page. This work includes processing material through the use ofaffinity/caucus groups. Here isanother articleon caucus groups for white folks who may feel skeptical/uncertain.

Reparations are meant to address the oppressive historical disparities that continue to impact BIPOC communities by increasing access to opportunities. The payment model does not penalize dominant/white culture participants by having them pay more, BIPOC participants will simply receive a discount. Trainer Bios:
Dr. Unique Page (she/her) is a nationally certified, licensed professional counselor. Her private practice focuses on mental health therapy for adults, children and families, organizational consultation, training, and clinical supervision. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling with a specialization in Counselor Education and Supervision from Oregon State University, a Master’s in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from George Fox University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University Los Angeles. Her research interests focus on linguistic and authorial stance analyses of multiculturally based competencies, standards, and ethics in professional mental health education programs; and how or if academic writing is keeping up with the rate of antiracist and multiculturally focused standards and conversations to ensure efficacy in research and praxis. Dr. Page's organizational work focuses on fostering leadership and empowerment among counselor trainees, mental health professionals, institutions, and organizations. This involves addressing important topics such as diversity, racism, equity, and inclusion with the aim of promoting empathy, competence, and ethical relationships. The ultimate goal is to empower people to bring about systemic change from a social justice perspective.
